Random Weekly Update

Just a few things ... most all via Instagram, where I spend most of my days taking pics!

I finally got my hair did
2.5 inches, layers, color, and thinned out to the max.. it felt great.
I have TONS of hair... and with being pregnant, and ending nursing.. it was thicker than ever, and needed some big time grooming..

These two are hysterical lately.. I can leave them alone to play for quite some time.. and they are fine.. then often times i cant even leave the room without someone hitting or pushing or pulling hair.. but for the most part they love each other.. and get so excited when they dont see one another for a bit.. its so amazing and wonderful to see the love they have as siblings.. even so young.

I made some vanilla sugar this week, which Im planning on making some cookies with. But the vanilla sugar needs to sit for at least 2 weeks covered... so see you in 2 weeks!

This is what they do when Daddy vaccums in the basement.

She said she was building New York City... I dont know where she gets this stuff from.. hysterical.

This weekend was Daddy's birthday..
So I was busy all week shopping and getting stuff ready.
Most of the things we got him I couldnt really wrap... so I gave him all this stuff in an old crate.
Cucumber Soda, 4 new wine glasses, gum, seaweed snacks (his fav), jalapenos, and a long garden hose for our plants and garden this summer (not pictured)

I love crafting and organizing my crafting supplies just as much.
I found this awesome tool cabinet at Aldi's for 9 bucks!
I have no idea what to fill these cute little drawers with, but for 9 bucks, I'll figure it out eventually

Its still been super cold around here lately.
This weekend it didnt quite reach 40.. but it was sunny and we took the kids outside as much as we could. I found this tiny little guy in the front flower bed this afternoon.. Spring is trying to come... I just hope its decent for Easter/

This week SJ has a party for Easter at school
I signed up to bring wrapped treats, and got this cute idea from Pinterest.

We ended the weekend celebrating our Daddy..
Cinnamon Creme Cake from Corner Bakery Cafe..
It was hard for me to NOT bake anything .. so I had to make a little washi bunting banner to decorate the cake with.. ha!

My cousin brought us this cake when Andrew was just born.
Mathew was raving on how good it was, best cake ever, he loved cinnamon, ...
so I surprised him and bought him one for his birthday.. and he loved it.

This is a stool Im in the middle of right now...

Chocolate Peanut Butter Sandwiches from Disneyland {Pinterest Recipe}

Pinterest Recipe!

This image alone made me want to try this recipe.

I've been to Disney.. but about 15 years ago, and never saw this thats for sure!

I found the image below and recipe link from Pinterest/The Picky Palate Blog.

*the picky palate used shortening and milk chocolate..I just used melting chocolate wafers from Michaels, because I had them on hand, and they were delicious*

Chocolate Peanut Butter Sandwiches.{Joelle's Version}

The ingredients I had.. so I made 6 just to start.. What was I thinking.. I should have made 60!

Ingredients:

Peanut Butter

Graham Crackers

Melting Chocolates

First I layed out the grahams on wax paper.

Spreading them extra thick with Peter Pan {no doubt the BEST peanut butter ever.. no other brand comes close..}

Then pop these in the freezer on the wax paper.. until the PB is nice and firm

Then I just melted my chocolate in a bowl and took a spoon and smothered the squares as best I could to cover the entire square.

I put them in the fridge to harden

And then i had 2 about 20 minutes later with some milk...

Excellent...

Addicted...

Deliciousness...

They do kind of break apart when you bite into them but who cares!

They are amazing!

Rounding 39 weeks pregnant and the cooking/baking I guess can be categorized under nesting.. because Im really into it right now..

I think I know I wont have time to do much of it pretty soon...

Weekend in Pics {From My Phone}

Our Weekend...

Consisted of a lot of cooking!

I had a burst of energy and my mentality these days is "I have to keep moving, cause maybe I'll go into labor!"

Banana Spring Rolls....

We'll come back to this ...

Friday I gathered all the bags for the hospital, and the one on the left is a little "present" bag for SJ when she comes to see her little brother. We're all set and packed. Made me feel accomplished! ha!
My Mom came over earlier in the week and played with Samantha while I got a few things done, like the rest of the crib bumper, and then I started making a few pillows... I love the way they turned out...I am a beginner sewer... I just cut the fabric and wrapped it around the pillow inserts inside out. Then turned the fabric back to the pretty side, and finished the pillow down the last edge.

Saturday hubby took Samantha sled riding, while Momma made a Starbucks run for a White Hot Chocolate, and a Grocery store run for some ground meat for my homemade sauce.

It turned out amazing.. and we have SOO much to freeze. Which was the plan.. I know in a few weeks cooking meals like this may be put on hold...

Samantha loves Momma's Sauce and Noodles!

She was such a good girl all weekend while we cooked and ran errands as a family.

I am sort of nervous that she'll rebel when baby comes, and Im praying she stays her sweet self, and becomes my little momma helper.

Sunday: Chinese Feast...

We love asian/chinese/japanese food.

I found a great recipe for Homemade Egg Rolls on ... where else?

Pinterest last week. So we got all the ingredients and gave it a try.

I made veggie egg rolls and omitted the ground chicken. They were A-MA-ZING!

Totally worth the effort, we made about 10 and froze about half.

I was nervous to make them, but they were not that bad to make at all.

Even the frying wasnt a big deal, couple minutes on each side, and voila!

NOW... On to Dessert

If you ever been to PF Changs, I was trying to attempt their Banana Spring Rolls.

They turned out just as easy and good.

I took 1 banana.. and cut it in half, and then cut the halves down the middle.

Wrapped them in the wonton paper...

and sealed them with a little egg wash...

and fried them the same way I did the egg rolls.

Garnished them with powdered sugar, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream... OMG.

It was a delicous meal, and then to finish it off with a dessert like this..

was so good

Nothing too exciting this weekend, but we sure ate good!

What did you do???????

3 New Pinterest Recipes

Yesterday I had no idea what was for dinner... until I checked my trusty Pinterest boards.
Hubs and I went out for Indian food on Wednesday and I LOVED it.

I never have been to an Indian restaurant, but I enjoyed everything..

And when I got home I wanted to look up a salad we had for dinner

And I found this similar link on Pinterest

The picture looks better if you click the link above

I had no tomatoes.. booo.. Next time

I also found the recipe for the House Balsamic Dressing we had.

Yogurt Balsamic Dressing
BBQ Pulled Chicken - Slow Cooker

INGREDIENTS:
1 small to medium yellow onion, thinly sliced into half moons
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, fresh or frozen
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons molasses
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt

Whole wheat hamburger buns or rolls (I used this French Bread roll recipe, subbing whole wheat for the white flour)

DIRECTIONS:
Scatter the onions on the bottom of a slow cooker. Place chicken on top of the onions.

In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, vinegar, mustard, molasses, onion powder, cumin, garlic powder, Tabasco and salt. Pour the sauce over the chicken. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low until the chicken is fork-tender and the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5-6 hours (add an additional hour if using frozen chicken breasts).

Remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred the meat. Return it back to the slow cooker, mixing it with the sauce. Serve the chicken hot on whole wheat rolls, if desired.

This meal was so easy and delicious... and I had everything on hand!

And today as we welcome the weekend.. it has not stopped snowing all day and we're planning a cozy toasty weekend.. Not many plans, maybe a run to JoAnn's for fabric for the bumper and a frame, but not much planned!

Happy Weekend!
