Celebrating Andrew George

My big guy is three
The previous post was about how I felt about having a three year old now and reminiscing this day (below)
Its a chilly day today.. 15 degrees... It was 55 when he was born.
So needless to say he had to pretty much stay indoors today.
We arranged his gifts on the table.. and he shouted "open presents now!" which I think is the FIRST time he was all excited to open presents.. He didnt even care that much at Christmas just a few weeks ago
He got right down to business...
A new garbage/recycling truck.
He was smitten.
Played with that thing ALL day.
He also got new diecast car set, a Cuckoo Clock (hysterical) Tractor Set from Sister, A Backyardigans DVD, and a Delta Airlines Airport set

Sam and I headed out to get a few things for his little party later in the day.

I love setting up party stuff.
No real theme, just blues and reds and yellows, But his truck cake ended up being Orange.. so ..
I had leftover cake and homemade buttercream, so I froze about a dozen un-dipped cake pops (just the cake and frosting rolled) and then I made a few blue ones.
Drink station ;)
And I had made these sugar cookie "3"'s about 2 weeks ago and froze them/forgot about them till the party almost was starting.
We ordered some pizza, and had snacks.
My homemade salsa/chips, carrots and dip and popcorn, chips
As soon as we were done eating, we mentioned presents again, and he ran and sat down so fast.. he was ready.. he likes this "present opening" thing...
Then cake... He was so excited too.
I know I keep saying he was so excited.. but i'll just preface that he was into NONE of these things when he turned 2. I made him a huge construction cake.. he took one bite and spit it out.. And Samantha opened all his presents last year.. (which is why she looks teary-eyed here... She had to accept that he FINALLY wanted to participate in his own party)

We were laughing so hard because he kept digging his fork right into the big cake.. He poked off all 3 Oreo wheels and went to town.. He had never had an oreo until yesterday.. so we were amazed.. haha..

He sat and ate and ate and ate frosting and cake and oreos...
He was so happy ... We were so happy..

The party was so much fun.
and just like that, he's 3.
I have a 5 1/2 year old and a 3 year old.. with no plans of another baby... thats kind of sad...
But then again, we're getting into the stage when its become a LOT easier, and Im grateful for that.

But if I could just blink myself back into the hospital room with him for a few hours.. That would be okay too..

My Little Man

The past few days when SJ has school.
This has been my little errand/shopping buddy.
Normally after we drop her off we do some sort of errand or shopping..

I've been really enjoying my time with him.
In the mornings he's always very chill and good.
Yes the baby who I'd never thought I'd ever go shopping with is learning to like it.

Yesterday we dropped off SJ and headed to walgreens to pick up some prints I ordered and to get a few toys & stocking stuffers for Christmas.
After that.. I took him to Panera. Yes.

I came prepared with Cheerios and puffs and plenty of juice

I even ordered my favorite bagel and cream cheese with their awesome lemonade.
When I was pregnant with Andrew I'd say I probably had an Asiago Cheese Bagel with Cream Cheese at LEAST 4 times a week.. NO JOKE..
Even when I had morning sickness.. I always craved it.
And I guess I still do! ha!

We probably sat at the table for about 20 minutes... which was LONG for someone's first dining experience..

I fed him some pears, he ate his puffs, and when it was clear that it was time to go and his voice wasnt so quiet and cute.. we left..

In the afternoon.. we were off again.
This time I took him to the grocery store for some meat and fish...
AND then the post office.. All meltdown and tear free!!!
Amazed... I was truly amazed

Today he's refusing to nap... as I type this post, he's entertaining himself, so whatever..
I know I cant have days like this ALL the time, but yesterday was very nice, and I wanted to remember it.

Andrew George {8 Months}

Andrew you are 8 months old!
Time is flying by for us for sure.. only 4 months till your first birthday, really?

You weigh about 22lbs.
You wear a size 3 diaper
Sometimes an overnight diaper size 4 at night.

You nurse about 4 times during the day, and through the night.
You wake up way more than you need to... but Im hoping that one day you'll sleep through the night.
Im used to it the second time around.
Your sister was the SAME way... and now she's an excellent sleeper.. I have to wake HER up now.. ha!

You are into size 12 onesies mainly.
You fit into some 18 and 24 months though.
Size 12-18 pants.

NEW:
You are full on crawling
You are pulling up on the chaise lounge, stairs, toychest, bookshelf, .... anything you can stand up next to.. you try to pull yourself up...
You sit up very well ... but still wobbly.. You fall into a toy or the floor multiple times a day, so its SO HARD for me to walk away from you even for a minute. You crawl and scoot so fast you scare me!

Yesterday you stood up straight in the middle of your room ...woah.
You can give kisses!!!
You are happy though, even though you're a busy boy with a colicky past.
Even when you're sick you're still laughing and smiling and ON THE GO!
You are so sweet and we love our little Monkey Butt

Andrew's First TEETH! - 8.12.12

Sunday night {8.12.12}
I was nursing Andrew upstairs in his room.
And he was thrashing around.. couldnt get himself to calm down.. at all..
I randomly put a knuckle in his mouth to check for teeth.. (I always do this)
But this time I FELT A TOOTH!!!
It explained A LOT.. He was really cranky this weekend from shots I thought.. but little did I know.. it was a tooth! Gosh its early for a tooth I guess, right?
Samantha didnt get hers till about 9.5 months.. But he seems to be doing a lot of things a little sooner than his sister.

He's basically crawling too.. yea.. crazy.
Anyways.. Monday morning I got a good look, and saw that he cut BOTH bottom teeth at the same time! My poor baby! He didnt really let on that he was in too much pain though, and I had no idea!

So I gave him some teething tablets, orajel and tylenol throughout the day. As the day went on, I could tell he was in pain... so hopefully ...maybe... he'll sleep better tonight..

Cause he took maybe 2 naps .. both under an hour each today... Im totally exhausted.
Hitting the sack early today..

My baby boy is growing and changing at a rapid pace... I just dont think Im ready for teeth yet!
Im gonna miss that gummy smile of his!
Well I know, ready or not here they come, right?

Andrew George (6 Months)

I feel like this is a monumental month..
6 Months.
You are around 21-22 lbs I would guess.
You are in size 3 diapers.. but you could be ready for 4's soon.
9, 12, 18 and some 24 month onesies

You take a good morning nap most days.. from about 10am-11:30.
Unless we're going somewhere.. then your nap gets interrupted.. and you make up for it later.
You nap again in the afternoon... once, or sometimes twice.
We try to keep you awake from 6pm till bedtime.
You are usually in bed by 8:30-9:00pm

You always wake up once, sometimes more..
You've been waking a little more than usual, but I think you're teething now.. ugh.
Last night though you slept from 9pm-530am, then you ate, and went back to bed till 8:30am..all I have to say is THANK YOU!

You roll back and forth, sideways, front, you can turn yourself completely around.
You are trying so hard to crawl, you've got the leg part down.. you'll bend your legs and push yourself over, (sometimes you push so hard to launch yourself onto your noggin, and hurt yourself!)
All you have to figure out is how to hold up your head/arms, and you're not too far off..

When we say "yeay" you bring your hands together.. but your fingers arent all the way out.. we're working on clapping, but you can clap i guess, your way!
You cant sit up yet, but you ride in the stroller, and swing without any support.

FOOD:
I am aiming to give you a little oatmeal every day.
We're starting with this...

You seem to really like it as we go along.
Im staying away from Rice Cereal, because I've heard a few bad things about it, and it really constipated Samantha... we dont need my little post-colic going nuts!
I busted out the baby cooker, and Im going to gradually introduce foods ... Your sister HATED purees... and I made everything homemade.. but she still hated everything... we moved right to solids with Samantha Janie.

You still nurse but you arent too obsessed with it... you seem distracted lately... and you will leave me feeling really full almost always.. so Im pumping and stocking up/freezing, for cereal or for Daddy feedings. Samantha was obsessed. Every 3 hours like clockwork.. she'd sit there and nurse and nurse...we had a ROUGH time weaning.. Im praying your transistion is easier...
LOVES vs DO NOT LOVES
I love that when you nurse you grab at my face/chin, and twist my skin with your STRONG little fingers.
I do not love that you are having a hard time calming yourself down to nap/sleep
I love that you're sleeping great this week
The last few nights (and I know im jinxing myself right NOW)
9pm-6am.. feed... back to sleep till 8:30am
10:00 - 7:15am
9:30-6:45am... feed.. back to sleep till 9

You LOVE LOVE your sister.. and she sure does love you.
She has this "voice" that she does .. specifically when talking to you, and its hysterical.
I know if youre in a bad mood, I find Sister.
If there's nothing more I can do for you and you're clearly sick of Mama, I find sister..
She's your 2nd little Momma.. and she knows it..

We even let her feed you a little water, and she did pretty good!
We love you sweet baby.. I cant beleive in 6 short months we'll be celebrating your first birthday!

Andrew George {5 Months}

My Little (Big) Guy

5 Months Old?? Really?
You are:
Guessing around 20-21lbs.
You wear Size 3 Diaper
You are in 18 month onesies.. Yes I said 18 month.
Your legs arent too fat/long .. so you mostly wear 12 month one-pieces, or some 9 month pants/shorts
You take several small naps throughout the day
Your bedtime is around 9-10pm
You usually wake up at least one time to eat.
You've had Oatmeal Cereal!
At first you didnt like it too much.. and your patience level got the best of you.
So Im introducing this slowly.. 1 tbsp of cereal + my milk
You Roll
You scream
You laugh
You chew on everything, hands, burp cloths, toys, my face..
You think Samantha is hysterical, and you look at her and laugh and smile.. its so sweet
You love your Einstein... you stay in there for a while now by yourself!
You love swings
You love the outdoors (if you fuss.. its outside with you)

Newest Thing:

You love to grab your feet...you are very adorable

Happy Five Months to you my little man!

Your sister is so darn cute with you..
only SHE can make you laugh at the crabbiest moments
only SHE can get that cutesy face to get all embarrased.
only SHE can get you to follow her left to right, all around the house.
Its such a joy as a Mama to see her kids love so much.. and its only gonna get better..

Five Months...
and it will be 18 before we know it
Freeze time... my babies are getting so big!

All About Andrew

Today's post is all about this big guy.
Thats what we call him around here..
The big guy..
He is named for his large size..ha..
I always say this but I cannot get over how big he is compared to Samantha.
He is already in some 9 month onesies, and outfits..
This was him in the morning on 4.14.12.
He's definately good natured in the morning, smiling and talking up a storm.
It helps me wake up cheerful I guess..
He sleeps pretty well, although he's with us.
He'll wake up at least 2 times per night.
And I've noticed he isnt nursing as long at night at all..
Last night for example, he only nursed on one side and fell back asleep for another 4 hours.

Monday 4.9.12 we went to the Dr's for his 2 month checkup
A little late.. and he got his first round of shots.. poor guy
He squealed for about 1 minute and then he was surprisingly silent the entire car ride home.
He was a little fussy that evening.. but never had a fever, or any side effects that we noticed.. thank the LORD!!
His stats were quite impressive as well.
He's a solid 15 lbs.. already!
Samantha wasnt 15 lbs. until she was 4 months old.
He's only 2..Woah.
The doctor was so impressed with how much better he was doing.
We also saw the lactation nurse who has been with us since the beginning... and also made some house calls when Andrew was in so much pain (we thought)..and she said.. His "case" was in the top 10 worst that she's seen .. I dont know if that makes me feel better about how far we've come, or worse?
At any rate ... life is getting a little easier around here.
I can put him down a LOT more.. and he'll even fall asleep some days by himself.
We hardly rock him anymore at all. We've stopped his acid reflux meds, and other colic meds to see if he even needs them anymore
But poor guy is still super gassy.
He farts like a truck driver some days.. and you hear it and you cannot beleive something so loud and obnoxious is coming from an infant!
He's a real charmer this one.. watch out ladies...
And he's my little snuggle bunny..
I just love his squishy nose in this picture.I had to show you all the precious christening outfit that my sis-in-law had sent this past week
I cant wait to put him in it!
And a sweet hat and booties to match.. ugh!
I love it!So I just wanted to dedicate this post to our little Andrew George.
Thank goodness life is a little easier with you...
