Andrew is 3

Andrew will be three years old on Saturday 1/31.

To say it has flew by is both true and untrue.
We've had our days when we are wishing him to grow up so he passes certain stages, or can talk more, or eat more, or SLEEP for heavens sake...But there are also days lately when we look at him and say "gosh he's been so good lately"..
I recently went to a friends house for lunch and she said repeatedly. " I cant beleive how well he listens!"... I looked at her with the most puzzled face.. But he does listen pretty well.

I think people may have boys that are like this too, but since we had easy peasy Samantha Jane, Andrew puts us in first time parent mentalities a lot of the time, because we have dealt with so many new things with him, and are still learning as we go.

I still remember the day he was born pretty vividly.
I began to labor at home - I had no idea what this felt like either.. never had a contraction or anything with Samantha - I was induced.

Around 6pm I started feeling pains.. By 9:30pm they were coming every 5 minutes. I called the doctor .. took a shower and went back to bed, thinking it was pre-labor.. Then woke up at 1am with blasting pains coming every 2-3 minutes.. I was STILL in denial... But we called my mom and waited for her to come over while we headed to the hospital. When I got to the hospital I had dialated to a 3 already... so got me all hooked up.. I didnt last too long without drugs.. It was pretty painful and I was already exhausted. Pitocin made sure I had a LONG LONG hard labor... It was insane.. I had developed a high fever, needed oxygen, watched the sun rise and set without baby coming. I remember hearing all the babies in the other rooms crying as they were being born, and I just broke down.. Then finally it was push time. My poor little angels head was stuck for quite some time. It was probably very painful for him as it was for me. I pushed until my eyeballs felt like they would project out of my head. And finally big 8 pounder came out wailing away...and he never stopped... ahem

Anyways.. 3 years later and he is no longer colic.. at least most days.. haha

Andrew George
You are 3!
You weigh around 36-37lbs? - We need an official yet from the Dr.
You wear a size 6 diaper
You wear mostly 3T and 4T's
You are so tall, Im sure youre in the 80-90% for height

Food:
Dont be all ready for some big list.
He is so super picky, but I do attribute some to his food allergies so he gets a partial excuse.
Pepperoni, Bacon, Homemade Jerky
Bananas,  Apples (sometimes)
Puffs, Yogurt, Pretzels, Chips, Snacks, Oatmeal Cookies (My homemade.. I have to keep a stash in the freezer) Pumpkin Muffins (Another favorite)
Milk, Juice, Water

Its a short list.. and a daily struggle. I hope it changes some day.

Sleep:
Dont ask. Lets just say he'll be in a crib till hes 10.. just kidding.
He wakes at least once -- most times more than once.
Goes to bed around 8:45 - 7:30-8.
Naps.. sometimes they happen, sometimes they dont.. but he ONLY naps in the car or on the couch.. Crib nap days have been over since Sept 2014, and I miss them so much. BUT on the flip side.. He is probably better without one.. I get everything I need to get done, blogging, cooking, baking, cleaning, laundry.. while he's awake anyways.. He plays independently A LOT which is a huge blessing. He likes to play alone,

Likes:
Airplanes, Garbage trucks, His Kitty & Debbie (Blanky)
Daddy, Momma and Sassa
Carl (meow)
Playgroup
Ms. Nancy (his speech teacher)
Going to the store with Mama
Building with blocks
Making Cookies
His Bottle - Thats our bad habit.. we're working on it.
MUSIC! _ Favorite song in my iphone - Taylor Swift "Shake it Off" - He knows all the words.
Doing the Dishes

Vocabulary:
He was tested (my own instinct persued)
and found a slight speech delay. So he gets speech services 2x a week for 25 min.
Its so nice.. his teacher has become a friend also, and she can see how hard it is for us some days with his resistance. But most days he loves playing with her sitting and reading books, etc, and I truly think it has made a great difference. Its like school at home. He is speaking in sentences and has so many new words. He can finally tell us exactly what he wants.. Some things only Mama can decode.. but we're working on it.

Dislikes:
Vegetables (ha!)
Sleeping with clothes on
Chocolate (not my child!)
His allergies: I'm certain that his sleeping is related to dust, air particles, things we try to get rid of but are just there. We do our best.. but his skin sometimes flairs up so bad that he scratches till it bleeds.
Food wise, we avoid ALL nuts pretty much that's it. The rest of the house can eat all the nuts and peanut butter we want, but not this little guy.

He is sweet
Kind
Loves his big sister to no end.
Waiting for the bus to come home every day is so adorable.
He wants her to play with him right away... and some times I can leave them alone and they take care of each other.. sometimes I cant leave the room... depends on the day.

We've pretty much made two clones of ourselves.
Samantha is my mini me and Andrew is Mathew's.
So at least we know sometimes how to interpret or navigate certain things.
Its so funny how different boys and girls are, especially these two.
One thing for sure is I NEVER judge any other mothers, and I admit I have.
You never know anyone else's situation or child, or life. All of it is hard. We do the best we can with what we have. Thank you Andrew for teaching me this! ha!

Sleep Progress & Thrift Store Finds

We are feeling much much better this week
Samantha had school... Andrew is learning to sleep ... finally...
and even Mama got out a few times this week by herself..

Garbage Day always cracks me up.
Even when it was 17 degrees out... the one garbage guy always looks for the kids, and waves to them... and Samantha gets super upset sometimes if he doesnt wave.. she's spoiled now..ha! So I made sure to prop them up on the couch so they had a good view.

A little tickle torture.
I love how she is so nurturing, mothering and sweet to him lately...

This is his signature face when he sees something he likes, or he gets excited..
He says "ooo ooo!"
Its hysterical.

Samantha and Daddy sat down for a little "You are My Sunshine".. and I got a cute video of her belting out the tunes.. It was so adorable.

Crying it out..
Its been a week now.. and he STILL cries when we put him down at night.
Not for long.. some nights its 3 minutes.. other nights its 10.. never more though...
He's slept through from 9-6 a few times.. But I've been roughing it and getting up with him at 530 some days.. and he's sooo insanely thirsty.. Then he'll fall back asleep on the couch .. (like he is right now as I type).. its early.. but eventually he'll get it I hope!
Im sure it will take him a while to get the hang of it.. and be a fantastic sleeper like big sis now.
But I need to remember, she wasnt always a good sleeper either!
The point is.. HE"S SLEEPING IN HIS OWN BED!!!!
Praise Jesus!

Yesterday we went to the pool for a swim.
We joined our new health center that was just built.. and on cold, grey, winter days.. it was perfect for the kids.. and us too!

The pool wore them out.. YES!
Everyone took naps, and Momma headed to the thrift store for a little therapy.
I love thrifting.. some days I find nothing.. but yesterday I found a few things I am pretty excited about.

A wood frame (maybe for a chalkboard)... two old embroidery hoops, a wooden cart, tiny pitcher, teeny tiny dome, and ..... BALL JARS!!!
I couldnt beleive the stash I found! All under 1.00!

I have a thing for Ball Jars..

(via pinterest)

I like using them for food storage, and Pinterest has TONS of ideas for them as well.
Holding flowers, candles, making globes,

I just love the look...

This one is a blue/aqua glass 1/2 gallon..

Not sure what I'll use it for yet.. but thats the great thing about finding them for cheap!
Oh, and I have a bunch in my cabinet and I like drinking iced coffee out of them too!

Bedtime Blues...

Yes Its true I am having some "bedtime blues" of my own.. but this post is about SJ.

She's never been an easy baby to put to bed.. since nursing.. and even then around 9 months she started waking up in the middle of the night for a feeding that was probably unecessary.. But I fed her anyways..

So now she's 2.5 years old.. baby due any day.. and I have to hope the baby due anyday is the reason why she's giving us.. ME a hard time.

She's not completely bad.. she is just a master STALLER... Our routine has been books, brush teeth, in bed, prayers and maybe 2-4 more books in bed.

I know I give in because Im all preggo and emotional.. but tonight she was screaming and screaming and just wanted ONE MORE BOOK.. Thats the phrase she was screaming from down the hallway.

I finally got my point across after caving and reading her more books and she read for a while... I think she fell asleep near 10pm.. but c'mon!

Is she sleeping too much during naptime? She typically goes down when our nanny is here at 12:30 and sleeps till 3pm.. and we WAKE her up.. I think she'd sleep longer!

All I can think of is... how the hell am I gonna do this with an infant in the house?
Im also nervous for the baby.. and how is his crying not gonna wake her up?
Oh good lordy its a stressful night in the house tonight!
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know

This was truly a venting blog post.. and I do feel a little bit better now.. ha!
Good Night,
Joellle

Open Late....

So Samantha.. (my almost 19 month old) hasnt been the best sleeper.. since birth. I guess I could have titled this post "venting". As I sit here and type, she is still not sleeping ... She just woke up after I put her down for bed.. I went up, calmed her down, and rocked her.. then put her down..

2 seconds after closing the door, she gives me the blood curdling scream that all Momma's Im assuming hate hearing. Im being strong, and letting her cry back to sleep.. thats the way my husband and I have been handling her lately...

We need sleep, and she needs sleep... end of story, right? Haha.. yea right.

I feel badly for posting and "venting" about my sweet baby girl. She really is the best part of our lives.. Its just that some days/nights are tough, and it feels better to know Im not the only Momma out there who gets a little frustrated.

I am hoping, when Im brave enough to want another baby, that the second one sleeps better than miss samantha jane! ha!

In all other ways, even the sleeping "problems" I cannot thank God enough for giving us a healthy beautiful girl.

Momma said there'd be days like this, right?

MOVING ON.. Thank you so much to Shannon over at Bless Our Nest! I am so grateful to her for hosting my first giveaway! I think it was a successful one, huh?

Now that I have some more followers Im super excited to share things with you all, craft more, blog more, vent more (ha!), cook/bake more, etc!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

January Weekend

This weekend we didnt have much planned which was nice. It was the first weekend, since the holidays.

We went shopping Friday night at Dash's and got lots of food, since we didnt really have too much since getting back from Ohio (New Years Weekend)

We all woke up and had warmed croissants.. and Samantha found them extra yummy..as you can see...

We hung around in our pj's and I started making a few things.. like this delicious soup with beans/kale/sausage.. it was sooo delish... and I got the recipe from a fellow blogger who got the recipe from weight watchers.. so it was goood AND healthy to boot!

These dough for these cookies was made by my mother in law, we didnt have time to make cookies before leaving cleveland, so she gave me a hunk of dough to make at home. So I rolled them out and baked them, but never frosted them, so when I was out shopping I always hit the baking aisle.. and I found this:

Now, I thought its probably gross... and Im more of a make-your-own frosting type. But I didnt really have time, and knew Samantha wouldnt let me do all this cooking-baking too.. ha!

I tried it and it was DELISH!! Great quick fix for cookie frosting, I will definately be trying it again!

And I even had time to decorate them with some piggy sprinkles I found at the Amish Country in Ohio, in Nov.

And I also made some coconut clusters. Im mailing some packages to my sis in law (late xmas gift cause we missed her in Oh), and sister (birthday).. So if you're reading this Shauna, you're getting some chocolatey yummies!!

Saturday night Samantha woke up around 2am screaming...and she didnt go back to bed till 4am.. (after many tries with rocking, sleeping...) I decided that it may have been the beans from the soup I made? Who knows.. but I did make burritos a few weeks back, and she did the SAME thing in the middle of the night... NO MORE BEANS!!!

Ugh, yesterday we were both SO tired.. she was in so much pain in the afternoon, that I gave her a yucky up her butt.. to make her go.. after that she went, and I soaked her in a long hot bath.. and she was back to her old self again... thank goodness... I felt so bad for her.

She slept the entire night last night.. and I even had to try hard to get her up! Lazy bones slept till 7:45!!...
