Homemade Lip Gloss & Monster High Favor Boxes

Homemade Lip Gloss

I made Pink Lemonade for Samantha's 4th party and they were so easy, I decided to make Raspberry ones for her Monster High

Ingredients:

Vaseline
Small to-go packet Raspberry Powdered Drink

Step One:
Microwave the vaseline in pyrex glass cup until a little runny.
I had to keep stirring with a whisk and melting a little more.

Step Two:
Stir in drink mix and whisk

I
I found these little pots  with lids at the dollar tree

Pour mix in slowly

I added a monster high sticker and wrapped them in little celophane bags
They went inside these cute favor bags
All the other goodies that went in the bag
I finished them with hot pink tulle and a pom pom tag
they were adorable!

Valentine Teacher Gifts

Gift giving time again! My favorite thing.. no really.
As I have been volunteering a lot at Samantha's school this year, I really have a better appreciation for her teachers and all that they do for the kids all year.

A sweet little gift is what I had in mind.
I painted the base of some wooden mixing spoons - 4 pack found at Walmart for $3.00
Martha Stewart glitter paint in Bubble Gum
Twine
Tags
Lindt Truffle Chocolate bars - $1,00 each at Target

I painted the spoons 3-4 times to get a really sparkly look.
They turned out so pretty
I put the chocolate and the spoons in cello bags, tied them with a big ribbon and attached each tag with bakers twine.
Just a little something.
Hope they like it!

DIY Manilla Tags --

Manila Tags are something I decorate a lot with.
I see such awesome ideas on Pinterest all the time and get inspired to run to Hobby Lobby and get another pack. But the packs only come with a certain amount, and I've been using these like crazy! So I decided to find a cheaper way to make them myself.

Supplies you will need:
Manila folders - Dollar Tree $1.00
Hole Punch - already had
Scissors
Old Manila Tag Template - I used a standard size one and a big one for some of my bigger stamps
Brown Kraft Reinforcement Stickers - I got these on Ebay 144 for $4.00 or so.

Step 1:
Line up the pre-cut tag over the manila and cut your die
Line up the two tags
And punch out the hole at the top
Adhere a kraft sticker on both sides, and voila!
The bigger tags now
And a few of the finished products
Bet you cant  tell the original from my diy?
They look so sharp on a pretty present

Hot Cocoa Party

A few days before Christmas we hosted a
Hot Cocoa Party for some close friends and family
I had so much fun decorating for the party.. of course.
I made bunting, ball fringe and recycled some book page garland from the mantle.

I just had some treats and sweets
a few snacks, pretzels and bison dip

I had big plans for jalapeno dip, chips, and one more baked dessert.
But the party almost didn't happen at all.
We woke up to our sub pump going crazy, and a flooded basement.
Thank goodness it was only around the walls of the basement .. so thankfully, no Christmas presents, or anything else was harmed...just a few paper boxes..

But the flow of water coming from underneath the basement floor into the pump ... was scary.
So fast, and the pump was filling to the top and turning on every 2-3 minutes..
Thankfully it never broke down...

So I texted everyone ... cancelling the party..
Then the water slightly let up, .... and I had prepared and baked... so we ultimately decided.... Lets just have the party.. and if the pump breaks and floods the basement... then we kick everyone out.. ha!
So on with the re-texting and the party was on....

Samantha was so excited.. Her two friends from school last year were coming, and she was literally in tears when I told her we couldn't have it...

So I did the best I could with running around like a crazy person, and got everything ready and cooking.

We had such a great time with our friends & family.
I wanted to take time out to see people who we werent going to get together with before and after Christmas, since we'd be in Ohio for a long time.

Blakely & Andrew.
She just the cutest thing! She went right up on the couch next to him & they sat there for almost 25 minutes watching Max & Ruby. We kept telling him to give her kisses.
Samantha & Allie
They came down to model a fashion show for us.

I made some delicious Hot Cocoa in the slow cooker, and set up a little Hot Cocoa Bar ... what I could get set up ...

Of course I made cupcakes.... cant let a party happen without em!
Hot Cocoa with Marshmellow Buttercream

So the party prep & food got cut short...
But it was a nice party ... full of friends, laughter, and good memories

Christmas Home Tour 2013 & DIY Mason Jar Snowglobes

Christmas came and went, and now that we're relaxing in Ohio, Im catching up.
Here's a little look into some Christmas in our home this year.

Our Mantle.
I love decorating our mantle, I think I will always want to live in a house with a mantle.. it seems to serve as the decorating centerpiece, and its where I start decorating for every season, birthday, etc.. and the rest of the house just flows from here.

The lights are super old from World Market when we lived in Wilmingon
The tree felt garland... Target dollar spot, -- too much time was spent in  that section this season!
The paper book page chain was made by me
Pinecones, Little houses, Vintage Ball Jar Snowglobes, Rustic Frames, and Chalkboards

DIY Mason Jar Snowglobes
I saw these done last year on a few blogs, and I knew I wanted to do my own this year.

Here's how I did it.

Supplies:
Large Ball jars/mason jars - Mine are vintage from the Goodwill under $1.00 each.
Epsom Salt - Dollar Tree $1.00
Miniature Deer - Michaels - $1.49 for 4 or 5
Bottle brush Trees - Michaels - @ 2.00 with 40% coupon.
Elmer's Glue - Dollar Tree

I first glued the trees all down and let them sit a while
Then poured in the Epsom salt making a little "hill" in one area.. (just the way I was pouring I guess)
Then I used tongs to lower the deer into the "snow"
That's It!
And they look so so pretty....

Almost every room had a little tree in it...
Even our room & Samantha's  it made the rooms so cozy.. even though our house is freezing.

Advent Calendar
This year.. Yet again inspired by pinterest, I created a really cool advent calendar.
I wrapped 25 little presents up, and then hung them by an old branch (used to be Andrew's mobile in his nursery) .. and added a few woodland creatures, and voila!

The kids.. well, Samantha .. loved picking out 1 present each day.. the presents were a mix of food, coloring books, little cars, card games, and little toys

The Gingerbread House.

This year, Samantha chose a really cool gingerbread house from Trader Joe's.
It was really easy.. and she did most of the decorating himself.

I did a few little festive things throughout the month..
Reindeer Sandwiches with Cookie Butter
And sharing our love of cookie butter also was shown in our teacher gifts this year.

Santa Pancakes one morning were a big hit!
Especially his chocolate eyes.. of course..

Family Granola Gifts were given on Christmas Eve

And I wrapped all our presents.. most of them in brown paper this year..
It was cheap, easy and looked so wonderful all tucked under the tree.

Lemonade Birthday Party {the details}

Details on the party..
I had a lot of fun with the Lemonade theme.
I started in early June brainstorming and creating.
Most of my sources came from Pinterest and Etsy.

The sign below is just broken wood pieces painted with acrylic paints, and nailed to the tree in our backyard.

The Lemonade Stand
This was one of the first projects I started.. Husband joined in to help .. and then I finished.
I found an old pallet that was out for trash.. threw it in my car, and voila..
I took almost the whole thing apart, and then Mathew added the ledge.
Then I just again painted on the letters with yellow paint, and nailed them to the two wood pieces from the pallet
The Cupcakes
I used a Pink Lemonade Cupcake Mix made by Pillsbury.. it was sooo soo yummy.
And I made some homemade Lemon Buttercream Frosting.. which was A MAZE ing...
I decorated them, and double lined them with pink and yellow cupcake wrappers..
I displayed them on a wood slab (found at Michaels in the wood craft section)..

Lunch
I made these treat cups out of paper plates. Found the tutorial on pinterest
For lunch we served:

Hot Dogs
Veggies and Roasted Red Pepper Hummus Dip
Tortellini Tomato Herb Salad
Veggie Sticks
Chips

The tablecloths were vintage linens I had in my stash
Bamboo spoons with stamped labels for the hot dog garnishes
Straws were in mason jars all over the tables I found them on Etsy.
On to the dessert table..

Tower of Sugar Cookies & wrapped Rice Krispie Sprinkled Cones

The Cupcakes
Pink Lemonade Cake with Lemon Buttercream Frosting

I wanted it to be like a little lemonade candy store.
I had glassine and kraft bags, where everyone went shopping and got to bring goodies home with them.
Mason Jars were used by the girls for their lemonades
The lids and straws I ordered from Etsy

The Party Favors:

Along with the candy bar I assembled...
Each guest got a personalized bucket to take home with them
Buckets were from Party City
I cut strips of vintage linens and tied them around the buckets

Im very into the personalized clothespin label lately
I used them again this past weekend for Bachelorette favor bags (post coming soon)

In the favor bags:
I wrapped Chewy Lemonheads in tissue paper and closed them with washi

little bracelets, more stamping and glassine bags.

A Lemonade Playdoh Kit

Bubbles...

Sidewalk Chalk

And thats it for the details I think
On Instagram I may have some more pics under #sjturnsfour.
